With our buying my second oldest anime obssession, Yu Yu Hakusho, I started started remembering all the anime I used to watch from when I learned to memorize TV channels and time slots all the way to when I left the Phillippines. And to dive even deeper into my anime ridden childhood I decided to look up every single one of them, it's a mix of odd feelings that ranges from something similar to meeting a dear old friend to something that could only be described as 'what the fuck'. not that I'm saying that I now despised some of the animes that I used to watch, each and every one of them clearly still hold a special place in my heart and there's no way that childhood fondness is ever gonna change. No matter how old I get.

back to the subject: Fifteen years of Anime and still loving it. Growing up in a country where the national passtime seems to be watching spanish and filipino soap operas, children like me found amusement in harrasing stray dogs (not me) and playing at vacated lots building 'houses' out of what ever trash was in said vacated lot (me on some occasions). When adults went and watched -er I dont know- Marimar or something we watched Doraemon or Card Captor Sakura. It was like a thing for some of us kids once four o'clock comes around we would stop whatever we were doing, go over someone's house and watch what ever anime was on. There was actually this one incident during a fieldtrip and our bus had a TV, four o'clock rolled around and the driver asked us what we wanted to watch and all the girls wanted Card Captor and all the guys wanted Doraemon. Needless to say it was all out war, and we missed both shows. Watching anime seems to be a thing in the phillipines (although i'm not so sure now...) barely any one in the neighborhood had the income to afford cable so local channels were our only choice, so it was either soap operas or anime, most kids picked animated fiction over romantic fiction. Just ask my dad, when He was a kid he used to watch this old seventies mecha anime called Voltes V.
